RUNNING START

We start promptly at 7:00pm, with a briefing and warm up, then set off at 7:05 sharp. We will be back at the start point, and have completed the debrief, at 8:00pm.
It's a 10 week course, and we train every Wednesday evening on the Coast Road between Malahide and Portmarnock.

Thanks for your interest in the Best Mate Running Start 10 week programme, a guided, accompanied, training plan to take you from beginner to running 5k in a safe, gentle and fun environment.

This is the first step for you in a new chapter of your life.

The second step is to sign up and get committed.

So before you do that, let me tell you what you are signing up for...

As we travel the course each week, we'll use a variety of combinations of walking, jogging and running to train ourselves up to the 5k target. I'll guide you through the course each week and then provide you with written instructions to practice the stage on your own, if you like.
You don't need to have ever run before, but you should be able to walk for about 30 minutes without pain.
You don't need an expensive pair of runners, but you should have comfortable flexible footwear to get started.

During each stage, we'll cover many aspects of being an athlete and a runner, including posture, breathing, nutrition and mindset.

And if you are at all concerned about your health, please consult with your doctor before signing up. This is a very gentle introduction to running over ten weeks, whereas many other courses will last for just 6 or 8, which is that much tougher for beginners.
Mindset is so important. From the moment we meet, I'll inspire within you an athlete's mindset, a runner's mindset, a success mindset.
At the end of ten weeks, you'll be able to confidently run 5k on your own, and to celebrate I'll invite you to run, with me and the rest of our group, and several hundred others, the famous Malahide ParkRun 5k on Saturday Jun 10th.
